Kung Fu for the Mind: PS I Love You Day (West Islip)

PS I Love You Day at West Islip Middle Schools
February 13
Founded in the West Islip School District, PS I Love You Day has grown into a nationwide movement promoting kindness, connection, and mental wellness in schools. Each year, districts across the country use this day to reinforce the message that students matter and that support systems are always within reach.
On February 13th, Synchronicity Coaching is honored to support PS I Love You Day by partnering with West Islip middle schools to deliver Kung Fu for the Mind, an experiential learning workshop focused on building student confidence, resilience, and focus. The program aligns with social-emotional learning goals by giving students practical, research-informed strategies they can apply immediately when navigating challenges, self-doubt, and academic pressure.
Featured Program: Kung Fu for the Mind
Kung Fu for the Mind is a movement-based mindset workshop that explores how focus, confidence, and resilience are developed through the science of learning. Using a short kung fu form taught through storytelling, call-and-response, and brain-based “neurobic” techniques, students experience how repetition and attention strengthen both skill acquisition and self-belief.
The session concludes with “How Big Is Your But?”, a guided reflection that helps students recognize self-limiting thoughts (“I want to succeed, but…”) and practice reframing them into constructive action. Through visualization and movement, participants reinforce the idea that obstacles are not endpoints, but challenges that can be worked through with focus and persistence.
